Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing praises community spirit which “brought Buckhurst Hill together” to celebrate Queen’s Diamond Jubilee
Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing has praised the community spirit demonstrated by young and old alike which helped make Buckhurst Hill’s Queen’s Diamond Jubilee event "a day which will be remembered for a long time”.
Mrs Laing said: “I have never seen so many people in Queen’s Road! It was great to see everyone coming together in celebratory mood.
“Congratulations must go to the parish council and the working group for organising the event, to the children who took part in the drawing competition and to the many shops and businesses which decorated their windows.
“It is a shame that we cannot have jubilee celebrations every year!”
Saturday afternoon’s event – which saw Queen’s Road closed to traffic – was organised by Buckhurst Hill Parish Council and also featured a steel band, stiltwalker, doggy fashion show and various stalls.
