Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing was among a group of Essex MPs who met with the new Police and Crime Commissioner for Essex, Nick Alston.
Mrs Laing said: “I am pleased to be working closely with Nick Alston and appreciate how important issues relating to law and order are to the people who live in the Epping Forest area.
“Nick is hitting the ground running and has excellent plans for improvements in the way the policing is carried out in Essex.”
During the briefing meeting at the House of Commons Mr Alston gave a summary of his plans and priorities for better policing in Essex.
He stressed the importance he attached to regular contact with the public.
He will hold a series of Public Forums covering each police district in Essex to be sure he is aware of local priorities.
MPs will repeat their meeting with Mr Alston at regular intervals.
