Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing and Conservative county councillor Valerie Metcalfe express delight at Essex County Council’s decision to start resurfacing work along Loughton Way, Buckhurst Hill
Confirmation from Essex County Council that resurfacing work is to be carried out along Loughton Way, Buckhurst Hill, has been welcomed by Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing and local Conservative county councillor Valerie Metcalfe.
They both took up the case of campaigning residents last year after they were presented with a petition calling for action along the road.
Residents had complained about vibrations caused by passing traffic which could be felt in their homes.
Essex County Council has said “extensive resurfacing works” along Loughton Way - between Hurst Road to River Road and the area of the junction with Blackmore Road - will start by the end of February.
Mrs Metcalfe said: “I am delighted that after all the effort that Mrs Laing and I have put into this problem that County Highways are now looking at re-surfacing in some areas.”
Mrs Laing said: “I welcome Essex County Council’s decision and praise Valerie Metcalfe for her persistence on behalf of the people she represents and on her success in getting this very difficult problem solved at last.”
